On May 1, 2018, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) conducted the Intercensal Agricultural Survey or better known as SUTAS. the background of the implementation of this survey is a renewal of changes in agricultural business data carried out every ten years, while changes in agricultural enterprises are very fast to follow technological developments, seasonal changes, and prices. The last agricultural census was carried out in 2013 (ST2013), therefore it is deemed necessary to conduct an agricultural survey between two censuses, hereinafter referred to as the Inter-Census Agricultural Survey (SUTAS).
SUTAS is done in the middle of the ST2013 period and the Agricultural Census of 2023 (ST2023), precisely in 2018, hereinafter referred to as SUTAS2018. SUTAS2018 is the Intercensal Agricultural Survey first conducted by BPS. The results of SUTAS2018 are useful to obtain the phenomenon of agricultural enterprise changes in 2013 and 2018, projection of livestock population, and other agricultural survey planning prior to the implementation of ST2023.
SUTAS2018 was conducted in 34 provinces of the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The number of selected census block samples was 55,679 Census Blocks. SUTAS2018 covers only agricultural business households in selected census blocks. Especially for the area of North Kolaka regency number of selected census blocks for the sample of SUTAS as many as 110 census blocks spread across all districts in North Kolaka District.
The implementation of SUTAS in Kolaka Utara district involved 50 officers consisting of 37 field officers (PCS) and 13 field supervisors (PMS). PCS is a partner of North Kolaka BPS BPS which has been regularly assisting BPS Kolaka Utara in conducting census and survey. While PMS is an organic employee of BPS Kabupaten Kolaka Utara which consists of District Statistics Coordinator (KSK) and Staff. Prior to the field enumeration, the officers, both PCS and PMS, had previously attended training held by BPS of Southeast Sulawesi Province.
The implementation of SUTAS data collection is scheduled to start on May 1 and ends on 30 June 2018. The sub-sectors being sampled in this section consist of 10 subsectors, namely: (1) Rice Plant, (2) Palawija, (3) Horticulture, (4) Plantation, (5) Farming, (6) Cultivation of forestry crops, (7) Other Forestry Enterprises, (8) Fish Cultivation, (9) Fishing, (10) Agricultural support services.
