Abstract

  • Kendari City inflation in April 2019 was recorded at 0.46 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 129.65. Nationally, of 82 cities that calculated inflation, 77 cities recorded inflation and 5 cities recorded deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Medan (North Sumatra Province) 1.30 percent with CPI 140.66 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Pare-pare (South Sulawesi Province) 0.03 percent with CPI of 129.45.
  • Inflation in Kendari City was caused by an increase in the price index in the foodstuffs group by 1.03 percent; the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.70 percent; health group 0.61 percent; clothing group 0.20 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group 0.12 percent; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group was 0.03 percent and the education, recreation and sports group was 0.02 percent.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation are air transportation, garlic, cayenne pepper, red onion, squid, rice, yellow tail, banana heart, long bean and bloated / bloated / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso.
  • The commodities that contributed to the deflation were skipjack / scales, bananas, spinach, milkfish / sponge, rambe, kale, kite / elephant, electric rates, chicken eggs, and gold jewelry.
  • Of the eleven cities on Sulawesi Island, ten cities recorded inflation and one city recorded deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Palu (Central Sulawesi Province) 0.72 percent with CPI 141.41 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Pare-pare (South Sulawesi Province) of 0.03 percent with CPI of 129.45.
  • Kendari City's inflation rate for the calendar year (January-April 2019) is 0.91 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2019 against April 2018) is 3.08 percent.
  • The inflation rate for the same period of the calendar year (January-April 2018) is 0.40 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate is 2.34 percent.
