Kendari City inflation in February 2019 was recorded at 0.03 percent

Abstract

  • Kendari City inflation in February 2019 was recorded at 0.03 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 129.36. Nationally, of 82 cities that calculated inflation, 13 cities recorded inflation and 69 cities recorded deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku Province) 2.98 percent with CPI of 159.05 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Kendari. The deepest deflation was recorded in Merauke (Papua Province) of 2.11 percent with CPI 138.03.
  • Inflation in Kendari City was caused by an increase in the price index in the transportation, communication and financial services group 1.31 percent; clothing group 0.45 percent; health group 0.30 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.26 percent; and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.10 percent. The group that experienced deflation was the foodstuff group of 1.38 percent and the education, recreation and sports group was 0.03 percent.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation are air transportation, rice, skipjack / scales, vegetable tomatoes, bloated / bloated / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso, men's collared shirts, race chicken eggs, ferns / ferns, paralon pipes and biscuits.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation are cayenne pepper, spinach, kale, long eggplant, race chicken meat, fly / hump, yellow tail, fruit tomatoes, shallots, and long beans.
  • Of the eleven cities on Sulawesi Island, one city recorded inflation and ten cities recorded deflation, inflation was recorded in Kendari. While the deepest deflation was recorded in Pare-pare (South Sulawesi Province) 0.78 percent with CPI of 129.22 and the lowest deflation was recorded in Makassar (South Sulawesi Province) of 0.11 percent with CPI 137.29.
  • The inflation rate of Kendari City in the calendar year (January-February 2019) is 0.68 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2019 to February 2018) is 2.60 percent.
  • The inflation rate for the same period of the calendar year (January-February 2018) is 0.64 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate is 2.21 percent.
