Abstract

  • Kendari City deflation in December 2018 was recorded at 0.09 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 128.48. Nationally, from 82 cities that calculated inflation, 2 cities recorded deflation and 80 cities recorded inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Sorong (West Papua Province) 0.15 percent and the lowest deflation was recorded in Kendari. Whereas the city that experienced the highest inflation was Kupang (NTT Province) 2.09 percent with CPI of 135.96.
  • Deflation in Kendari City was caused by a decline in the price index in the foodstuffs group 1.53 percent; and processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups 0.02 percent. The group experiencing inflation included the Transport, communication and financial services group 1.26 percent; health 0.23 percent; clothing 0.18 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.04 percent. While the education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes / were relatively stable.
  • Commodities contributing to deflation are kite / hump, skipjack / scales, bloating / bloating / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso, rambe, rice, tembang fish, yellow tail, milkfish / sponge, pomfret, and long beans.
  • Commodities contributing to inflation are air transportation, cayenne pepper, vegetable tomatoes, shallots, chicken meat, kale, chicken eggs, long eggplant, cooking oil, and baby clothes.
