Abstract

  • The deflation of Kendari City in March 2018 was recorded at 0.08 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 125.98. Nationally from 82 cities counting inflation twenty-five cities recorded deflation and fifty-seven cities recorded inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku Province) 2.30 percent and the lowest deflation recorded in Bulukumba (South Sulawesi Province) was 0.01 percent. The highest inflation was recorded in Jayapura (Papua Province) 2.10 percent.
  • The deflation in Kendari city was caused by the decrease of two price indexes in the foodstuff category by 0.66 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.07 percent. While the group recorded inflation ie the health group 0.50 percent; clothing 0.44 percent; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.35 percent and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.03 percent. While the education, recreation, and sports groups have not changed / relatively stable.
  • Commodities that contribute the largest deflation are bloating / banyar / gembolo / aso-aso; kite / bengkol; skipjack / scales; air transport; milkfish / sponge; tomato fruit; vegetable tomatoes; chicken meat; white cabbage / cabbage and tembang.
