Southeast Sulawesi Economy Quarter I-2019 Grows 6.33 percent (Y-on-Y)

Abstract

  • The Southeast Sulawesi economy for quarter I-2019 measured based on Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp 29.54 trillion and on the basis of constant prices in 2010 reached Rp 21.79 trillion.
  • The economy of Southeast Sulawesi in the first quarter of 2019 grew 6.33 percent (y-on-y), up from the quarter I-2018 of 6.15 percent. In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by the Educational Services Business Field at 9.77 percent. In terms of expenditure, achieved by the Component of Export of Goods and Services which grew by 20.61 percent.
  • Southeast Sulawesi's economy in quarter I-2019 grew by minus 6.04 percent (q-to-q), lower than the previous quarter at 2.01 percent. In terms of production, this was caused by seasonal factors in the business field of construction which in the previous quarter grew quite high, in the first quarter it grew minus 14.87 percent. While in terms of expenditure, it was caused by a contraction in almost all components, with the largest contraction in the Government Consumption Component (PK-P) of minus 25.69 percent.
  • In terms of production, the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries business fields made the most dominant contribution to the Southeast Sulawesi GRDP, amounting to 24.39 percent. While in terms of expenditure, the most dominant contribution occurred in the Household Consumption Expenditure Component (PK-RT) of 50.32 percent.
