Abstract
Deflation in Kendari City in September 2016, was recorded at 0.01 percent in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 121.65. Nationally from 82 cities that calculates inflation, twenty-four cities recorded deflation and fifty-eight cities recorded inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Pontianak (Kalimantan Timur) 1.06 percent and the lowest deflation was recorded in Kendari (Sulawesi Tenggara Province 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the biggest inflation recorded in Sibolga (Sumatra Utara Province) 1.85 percent.
Deflation in Kendari recorded due to the decline in the price index of foodstuffs 1.60 percent. While the group recorded inflation of 2.11 percent that is clothing; food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.86 percent; transportation, communication and financial services 0.53 percent; education, recreation and sport 0.22; 0.08 health and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.06 percent
