On Thursday, January 23, 2020, BPS of North Kolaka District held the SP2020 Rakorkab (2020 District Population Census Coordination Meeting). This activity was carried out in the North Kolaka Regent Office Hall starting at 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. This activity was attended directly by the Regent and Deputy Regent of North Kolaka, Mr. Drs. H. Nur Rahman Umar, MH and H. Abbas, SE along with all ranks and heads of SKPD in North Kolaka. This shows the seriousness and full support of the North Kolaka district government in order to succeed the population census that is held once every ten years.
In his remarks, North Kolaka Regent Drs. H. Nur Rahman Umar, MH stated that currently one of the challenges in synchronizing population data in Indonesia and in North Kolaka is the difference between BPS data and the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration. Data from the Director General of Duk Capil refers to the population administratively, while BPS refers to factual residence of the population. Population according to administrative data refers to the place of conducting administration, while all residents are factual according to their domicile address. Furthermore, he said that this year's population census will bring data from one de facto and de jure Indonesia. Both are needed as a basis for strengthening decisions with different analyzes, data is not only needed for current needs, but as anticipation and planning in the future both Indonesia in general, and more specifically North Kolaka. He also gave full support and invited active participation from all elements of society.
The Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Kolaka Regency, Mr. Zablin, SST., M.Sc was also one of the speakers in this activity. He explained that the population census this year will be held in 2 stages. The first phase is an online population census which will then be followed by a population census with interview techniques in July. From 15 February to 31 March the census was conducted independently through census.bps.go.id, while the interview technique was carried out in July. He also stated that the success of the population census in North Kolaka requires cooperation and participation from all walks of life, "The spirit of the census is stakeholder collaboration, to produce accurate, quality data to be used together. The participation of all parties will be the success of the population census activity, with the online system, we will see the extent of public concern for accurate data, "he said.
In addition to the Head of BPS, the Session was also attended by the Head of the Dukcapil Office and the Deputy Regent of North Kolaka. The enthusiasm of the Rakorkab participants was also very evident when entering the question and answer session. The discussion proceeded warmly and also received many constructive suggestions and input in the framework of the successful implementation of the 2020 population census, especially in North Kolaka Regency. The next set of Coordination Meeting activities will be held at the sub-district level (15 sub-districts in North Kolaka) scheduled for early February 2020.
