The Human Development Index (HDI) or commonly called the Human Development Index (HDI) is an important indicator in seeing the other side of development. HDI is a composite index based on three indicators, namely health, education and decent living standards

In general, human development in North Kolaka Regency has continued to increase during the period of 2013 to 2017. The human development index of North Kolaka Regency has reached 67.77 in 2017 from 67.60 in 2016. Viewed in each dimension, it has also increased from 2013 to 2017.

Human development in North Kolaka Regency among all districts / cities in Southeast Sulawesi Province is ranked 6th with the category of moderate HDI achievement in 2017. In 2017, only Kendari City which is in the very high category and three districts / cities are in the high category namely Bau-bau City, Kolaka Regency and Konawe Regency. The rest is in the medium category.

Increasing basic human capabilities has become an important effort in improving human development. By looking at the trends and efforts made, the achievement of the North Kolaka Regency HDI for the past five years, the realization has not reached a high level as in the category achievements (score 70 M HDI <80). If the trend towards the realization of the HDI continues without any synergistic efforts, the target to achieve HDI to a high level will be difficult to fulfill. Therefore, it is expected that the local government of North Kolaka Regency can seriously strive for opportunities to achieve HDI values with high criteria (70 M HDI <80).
